Australian Leisure Facilities Association Queensland (ALFAQ) today announce an exciting collaborative partnership with registered charity, Life’s Little Treasures Foundation (LLTF). The partnership is aimed at increasing the confidence of preschool children in and around water. It will also raise vital funds for LLTF to continue supporting families of premature and sick babies.
As part of the alliance, ALFAQ and LLTF will work together to promote Peppa Pig’s The Big Splash, a fun campaign which encourages children to be sponsored to splash in the water like Australia’s most popular children’s character `Peppa Pig’.
“Partnerships like this go to re-enforcing how industry peak bodies can assist organisations such as LLT to get the word out about such initiatives” said ALFAQ’s Executive Officer Stephen Butler. “We are thrilled to be able to support LLT in rolling this exciting and fun event throughout Queensland”
LLTF CEO, Shusannah Morris, said “Each year, in Australia, around 45,000 premature and sick newborns require medical support in Neonatal Intensive Care or Special Care nurseries. Having a child that is premature or sick places a great emotional and financial burden on that family. Help of peak bodies such as ALFAQ has made The Big Splash campaign possible. With the funds raised, more families will receive the much needed support they require to ensure the best outcome for their baby.“
The Big Splash will be publically launched in February 2014 and will run throughout Australia from the 1st March to the 30th April. Aquatics centers will be encouraged to host their Big Splash event during the last week of the first term.
More information regarding how families and centers can get involved in The Big Splash will be released in February 2014 and can be found on www.thebigsplash.org.au or download an information sheet here.
